Combine Exposures Dialog
The Combine Exposures Dialog can be used to control the software Colorpipe block that combines a multiple-exposure image into a single deeper image (for example, three 12-bit exposures combined into a single 20-bit image). This dialog should be use when the sensor set to HDR mode that has multiple exposure, and with the software exposure enabled.
Dialog Usage Overview
From the “Combine Exposures” dialog as shown below, user can enabled the “Software Linearization of Multiple Exposures” to enable the combination exposures, and the implementations of the parameters set in the dialog.
a. Combinations
There are different combining algorithms selectable in the drop-list at the top of the dialog.
-Smooth Comination
Weighted Channel combination
-Digital Lateral Overflow
-Smooth Combination with DLO Region
-Smooth Combination with Color Channel Check
-Smooth Combination with DLO Region and Color Channel Check
-Weighted Channel Combination with Color Channel Check
These selections represent combining formulas that the user can select for multiple exposures. An example of exposure combination is show below.
An image with 2 exposures before combining.
An image becomes one combined exposure with “Smooth Combination”
b. Thresholds
The thresholds s1 to s4 in the dialog are for blending one exposure with the next higher exposure, for example, T1 to T2 exposure.
The color thresholds are also for blending, to make sure all color channels blend the same way.
Motion Q1 to Q3 are thresholds for detecting motion (where the brightness ratio is not as expected between exposures) and then blending differently.
c. Other checkboxes
Line Buffer: Use the line buffer, data from previous row to get other color pixels.
Motion Mask: Use motion mask with “Smooth Combination” or “Weighted Channel Combination”.
WCC mval Sel: Weighted Channel Combination ‘mval’ selection method.
WCC Pixel: Use only current pixel, not average of other colors, in weight calculation.
Noise R2 T3: For DLO, use T3 in region 2.
Noise R3 T4: For DLO, use T4 in region 3.
WM Th: Weighted Channel Combination motion mask of weight threshold
