If you experience a problem with DevWareX in the form of a start-up or run-time crash, the first step is to try the same Hardware (cable, baseboard, headboard) on another PC (if possible).

Registry Cleanup

If the problem only exists on one PC, you can clear the Windows registry (1) for the specific ON Semiconductor product you are using.

This is a safe procedure in that this registry entry only tracks DevWareX-specific information for that product.

...

  1. In the Windows search window (lower-left), type “regedit”.

  2. When the Register Editor dialog appears, use the left-side navigation area to get to:
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ON Semiconductoronsemi\DevWareX

  3. Select the “>” arrow to expand the folder, and you’ll see all the entries used by DevWareX.

  4. Find the product entry (e.g. “ASX340AT”), right-click it, select “Delete”, and then select “Yes” when asked to confirm.

  5. Exit the Register Editor, and restart DevWareX.

...

If you still have issues, please send an EMail to “DEMO_SW@onsemi.com” with as many details as you canhave.

(1) The Windows Registry stores internal information for the Windows Operating System for applications that choose to use it.

Installation Folder Cleanup

If the Registry Cleanup procedure did not resolve the issue, then an Installation Folder Cleanup is in order.

Rarely but occasionally, folders and/or files can get corrupted in the installation folder. The only procedure to remedy this situation is to uninstall all onsemi Software, delete the installation folder, and then reinstall the require onsemi Software.

  1. In the Windows search bar, enter “add” and “add or remove programs” will appear near the top - double-click it to open that dialog.

  2. Scroll down to view all “ON Semiconductor” and/or “onsemi” names. Make a note of all instances.

    1. If you no longer have these installers on your PC, download them again from where you originally found them.

  3. Double-click each one and select “Uninstall”.

  4. When all have been uninstalled, navigate to you the installation folder and delete it.

  5. Run all required software installers.

If you still have issues, please send an EMail to “DEMO_SW@onsemi.com” with as many details you have.
