This document describes the various configurations and boards available for use with the Demo3. It also includes the part numbers of the Demo3 adaptor boards.
There are 4 Demo3 related boards.

  • Highlight
    Demo3

     (AGB2N0CS); the Demo3 baseboard. Its connector supports parallel, MIPI 2/4 Lane, and HiSPi connection without the need of the RJ45 cabling required for Demo2X-style connector and auxiliary board.

  • Demo2X to Demo3 adapter (AGB2N0CS); connect old-style headboards and Aux boards to a Demo3
  • Demo3 to Demo2X adapter (AGB3N0CS); connect new-style headboards to a Demo2X
  • Demo2X headboard to ICP2 adapter (AGB4N0CS); special-purpose adaptor for ICP2 only.

D3 HB <-> Demo3 (AGB1N0CS) and
D3 HB <> ICP2 <> Demo3 (AGB1N0CS)
Most new headboards (e.g. AR0833, AR1330, AP1300 (ICP2) ) are built with the new Demo3-style connector. These are the "cleanest" configurations in that they don't require any RJ45 cables.

D2 HB <> D2-to-D3 adapter (AGB2N0CS) <> Demo3 (AGB1N0CS) and
D2 HB <> Aux board <> D2-to-D3 adapter (AGB2N0CS) <-> Demo3 (AGB1N0CS)
To connect a Demo2X-style headboard to a Demo3, you'll need a D2-to-D3 adaptor board, the AGB2N0CS. This adaptor board has (2) RJ45 connectors for cabling to a Demo2X-style aux board.

D3 HB <> D3-to-D2 adapter (AGB3N0CS) <> Demo2X and
D3 HB <> D3-to-D2 adapter (AGB3N0CS) <> Aux board <-> Demo2X
For use in connecting any Demo3-style headboard to a old-style Demo2X-style baseboard, or a Demo2X-style aux board. This adaptor board has (2) RJ45 connectors for cabling to a Demo2X-style aux board.

D2 HB <> D2-to-D3 ICP2 adapter (AGB4N0CS) <> ICP2 (D3) <-> Demo3 (AGB1N0CS)
This adapter is specialized for use with the ICP2 to connect Demo2X-style headboards. It is NOT interchangeable with the D2-to-D3 adapter (ABG2N0CS). This adaptor board has (2) RJ45 connectors for cabling to a Demo2X-style headboard.

D3 HB <> debug board (part number TBD) <> Demo3 (AGB1N0CS)
This TBD board brings out volt and tap-points from the Demo3 board.

And for fun, some other configurations that are possible;

D2 HB <> D2-to-D3 ICP2 adapter <> ICP2 <> D3-to-D2 adaptor <> Aux board <> D2-to-D3 adapter <> Demo3
7 boards. Why? To use an HDMI's larger internal capture capacity.

D3 HB <> D3-to-D2 ICP2 adapter <> ICP-HD <> Aux board <> D2-to-D3 adapter <-> Demo3
6 boards. Why? To support Demo3-style headboards on ICP-HD.
