Initialization

When the application starts it prompts the user to select the target sensor and tuning method through an initialization wizard. Selections you have made in the wizard's dialogs can always be changed later when then main application starts.

Sensor Selection

The first wizard dialog window prompts the user to select the method by which the target sensor will be selected. If a Demo camera is connected with the target sensor attached SensorTune will detect it and configure itself for that sensor. If you have a Demo camera connected but you wish to calibrate a different sensor, you can select the manual option and specify the sensor and revision number of interest. You can also, change the sensor selection at a later time using the Initialization Tab of the application.

Note that it is not necessary for a sensor to be connected in order to create calibration settings for your sensor. However, having a sensor connected has the benefit of capturing images and register settings directly from the sensor, and testing the calibration results on the live sensor with fewer steps than would be required if the sensor is not connected.

If you select Detect the Sensor Automatically but a Demo camera is not connected or if the sensor that was detected is not supported by SensorTune then you will be prompted to select a sensor when the main application starts using the Initialization Tab.

Tuning Method Selection

SensorTune offers multiple tuning methods. The initialization wizard dialog for tuning method selection allows you to select the tuning module. If the sensor that was selected in the sensor selection page is not supported by any of the modules then that module method will be disabled in this page.

Once the tuning method has been selected press the Start button. SensorTune will start at the tab of the tuning method which was selected. Note that if no sensor was selected in the previous page, either because Automatic Detection was selected but no sensor was detected, or the detected sensor is not supported by the tool, the application will start in Initialization tab where you can select the target sensor manually.

Initialization Tab

If no sensor was successfully selected in the initialization wizard you can select the target sensor and its revision manually in this tab. You may also always go back to this tab in order to change your sensor selection. The available tuning method page and default values will be updated accordingly.

Matlab runtime

Some tuning methods in SensorTune were developed in Matlab. Therefore, Matlab runtime is needed to be installed to use those tuning methods. Due to the installer size, Matlab runtime installer is not part of DevSuite installer. When SensorTune is launched and if necessary Matlab components are missing, you will see the following warning.

Users can visit the link presented in the dialog to download and install the necessary Matlab runtime. Otherwise, some of the functionality are disabled as shown in:
