Deserializer Boards are only needed when connecting to a Demo2X baseboard.
The Demo3 baseboard, along with the Demo2X headboard-to-Demo3 adapter (AGB2N0CS), remove the need for a deserializer board; this link provides additional information on Demo3 connections.
Aptina sensor headboards typically support a parallel data interface. Some headboards support alternate data interfaces such as CCP, MIPI or HiSPi. These can be in-addition-to or in-place-of the parallel data interface. The physical serial output is via RJ-45 RJ45 connector, using CAT6 cabling for interconnections. The number of interface data lines will determine the number of jacks and cables required:
Number of interface data lanes | Number of CAT6 connections required |
---|---|
1 | 1 |
2, 3, or 4 | 2 |
8 | 4 |
Deserializer boards receive this serial data output and convert it into parallel form for input into the Demo2X (no longer being shipped). So the usual physical setup will consist of a sensor headboard connected to a deserializer board which is connected to a Demo2X. Various examples of these deserializer "assemblies" follow:
